Nabo Cocktail

The Nabo is warming cocktail, and especially great for sipping with friends on a cold Scandinavian evening. For the best results use a good blended whisky, such as Famous Grouse, or for something sweeter try using a good Bourbon.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 60ml (2 oz) blended Scotch whisky
  • Dash Worcestershire sauce
  • Tomato juice to fill

EQUIPMENT:

  • Stirring spoon
  • Highball glass

MIXING METHOD:

Fill the highball with ice and add the whisky and Worcestershire sauce. Top up with tomato juice and stir. Garnish with fresh basil and serve with a straw.

Affinity Cocktail

The amber-coloured Affinity is simple but, characterfull, and light and refreshing. It makes a great aperitif or mood-booster. Try to use a good-quality blended whisky, so that the malty flavours persist without any harshness.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 30ml (1 oz) blended Scotch whisky
  • 30ml (1 oz) sweet vermouth
  • 30ml (1 oz) dry vermouth
  • Dash Angostura bitters
  • 1 lemon


EQUIPMENT:

  • Mixing glass
  • Stirring spoon
  • Strainer
  • Martini glass

MIXING METHOD:

Pour the sweet and dry vermouths, whisky, and bitters into the mixingglass with ice and stir well. Strain into the Martini glass. Slice a twist of lemon zest and squeeze its oils into the mix. Place the zest in the glass and garnish.

Apple Jim Cocktail

Known as the green Bourbon whiskey drink, the Apple Jim is traditionally enjoyed on St Patrick’s Day by Irish-Americans. The ideal party drink, this cocktail looks stunning, and is both refreshing and thirst-quenching.


INGREDIENTS:

  • 30ml (1 oz) apple sour
  • 50ml (1 2/3 oz) Jim Beam Bourbon whiskey

EQUIPMENT:

  • Tumbler
  • Bar spoon

MIXING METHOD:

Fill the glass with ices cubes and pour in the apple sour. Gently pour in the Bourbon over the back or bowl of the spoon to give two layers of colour. Drop in a lemon zest to garnish.

Napoleon Cocktail

This is an exotic cocktail, dense with sharp citrus flavours. The Mandarine Napoleon liquer carries the scent of mandarin peel, which fuses perfectly with the mellow whiskey base.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 30ml (1 oz) Scotch whisky
  • 20ml (2/3 oz) Mandarine Napoleon
  • 20ml (2/3 oz) lemon juice
  • 40ml (1 1/3 oz) orange juice

EQUIPMENT:

  • Mixing glass
  • Stirring spoon
  • Strainer
  • Chilled highball glass

MIXING METHOD:

Fill the mixing glass with ice and all the ingredients. Stir until condensation appears on the outside of the glass. Strain into the highball, and garnish with mint.
