Cocktails under 'Whisky'
What better way to end a meal than with this classic cocktail? Stick to the recipe for this drink- never be tempted to use longlife cream.
INGREDIENTS:
- 60ml (2 oz) Bushmills Irish whiskey
- 2 tsp brown sugar
- 150-180ml (5-6 oz) hot, strong, black coffee
- Double cream on top
EQUIPMENT:
- Bar spoon
- Toddy glass (or wine glass with firm walls)
MIXING METHOD:
First, warm the glass: fill it with hot water, leave for two minutes, then tip the water out. Pour in the sugar and whiskey, followed by the coffee. Stir. Using the back or bowl of a bar spoon, float the cream on top.

This cocktail has been a hit since its creation in Scotland in the 1950s. You could drink it without ice at room temperature, in which case it will feel richer and more alcoholic.
INGREDIENTS:
- 60ml (2 oz) blended Scotch whisky
- 30ml (1 oz) Drambuie

MIXING METHOD:
Fill the glass with ice, add all of the ingredients, and stir. Garnish with a lemon rind in the glass and a cherry.

As its name suggests, this is the definitive Italian-American cocktail. Although the textures of US Bourbon and Italian amaretto are quite different, in this mix they complement each other perfectly; the result is a big, strong cocktail, with a small, citrus kick. It is best-suited for drinking late at night.
INGREDIENTS:
- 30ml (1 oz) Bourbon whiskey
- 30ml (1 oz) amaretto liqueur
EQUIPMENT:
MIXING METHOD:
Pour the Bourbon and amaretto into the glass and stir. Add three or four ice cubes and serve with slices of star fruit lime.

This cocktail has all the pleasure of after-dinner mints, but in a glass. The whisky cuts through the creamy texture to give good balance to the mix. If you have a sweet tooth, add a spoon of sugar.
INGREDIENTS:
- 30ml (1 oz) whisky (of any kind)
- 30ml (1 oz) white creme de cacao
- 30ml (1 oz) white creme de menthe
- 1 small cup espresso coffee or strong filter coffee
- Warm milk to fill
EQUIPMENT:
- Stirring spoon
- Shaker
- Toddy or hurricane glass
MIXING METHOD:
Pour the liqueurs and the whisky into the shaker. Shake well. Add the coffee, and pour the mixture into the glass. Stir in warm milk.
