Bruised Apple

This is a great party cocktail combining apple freshness with a good vodka “kick”.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 30ml (1 oz) pureed apple
  • 30ml (1 oz) Zubrowka vodka
  • Dash apple syrup
  • Dash Chambord raspberry liqueur

EQUIPMENT:

  • Strainer
  • Bar spoon
  • Mixing glass

MIXING METHOD:

Fill the mixing glass with ice. Add the vodka, apple puree, and syrup. Stir. Put the Chambord into the Martini glass. Strain the vodka mixture down the spiral handle of the bar spoon and into the Martini glass so that it “floats” on the Chambord. Garnish with a lime wheel.

Godmother

If you like amaretto then you are guaranteed to love this pale-amber cocktail: the toffee and vanilla of the liqueur are reinforced by the vodka’s alcohol. If you want to take the edge off the sweetness, you could reduce the amaretto to 20ml (2/3 oz) and increase the vodka to 40ml (1 1/3 oz) to compensate.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 30ml (1 oz) amaretto liqueur
  • 30ml (1 oz) vodka

EQUIPMENT:

  • Tumbler
  • Stirring spoon

MIXING METHOD:

Place four ice cubes in the glass. Add the vodka and amaretto. Stir. Decorate with a dusting of cocoa powder and a zest of orange if you wish.
