Madras

This variation of the classic Sea Breeze, which uses orange juice rather than grapefruit, offers a light touch of sweetness to balance the citrus of the orange. Serve the cocktail well chilled to get the most from its appealing fruitiness.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 60ml (2 oz) cranberry juice
  • 60ml (2 oz) Absolut vodka
  • 60ml (2 oz) freshly squeezed orange juice

EQUIPMENT:

  • Shaker
  • Strainer
  • Highball glass

MIXING METHOD:

Fill the shaker with ice and pour in all the ingredients. Shake very briefly and then strain into a highball containing just one ice cube. Place a slice of orange in the glass and serve with a straw.

This elegant, long drink is light and refreshing, with subtle aromas. For the best results use Absolut or Finlandia vodka. If you prefer your mixes drier rather than sweeter, you could use soda water instead of lemonade.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 30ml (1 oz) vodka
  • Rose’s lime cordial and cranberry juice in equal measures, to taste
  • Sparkling lemonade (Sprite or 7 Up)

EQUIPMENT:

  • Highball glass
  • Stirring spoon

MIXING METHOD:

Fill the highball with ice and pour in the ingredients, beginning with the vodka and ending with the lemonade. Stir gently and serve with a straw.

  • 60ml (2 oz) freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
