Brandy Alexander
August 12th, 2007
The elegant Brandy Alexander has delicious combination of chocolate and toffee-sweetness; it is perfect for after dinner. The key to making a good Brandy Alexander is to ensure that all of the ingredients are well chilled before you begin; keep them in a fridge overnight if you can. The alternative of creme fraiche over double cream is simply a matter of taste- and calories. Creme fraiche is slightly less sweet and better for your waistline.
INGREDIENTS:
- 20ml (2/3 oz) brandy
- 20ml (2/3 oz) brown creme de cacao
- 45ml (1 1/2 oz) double cream, or creme fraiche
- 1 tsp grated nutmeg
EQUIPMENT:
- Shaker
- Strainer
- Grater
- Chilled Martini glass
MIXING METHOD:
Fill the shaker with ice and add all the ingredients except the nutmeg. Shake for around 12 seconds to ensure that the cream is well integrated. Strain into the glass and dust a layer of grated nutmeg over the surface of the drink. Serve with a small straw if you wish.
